Sometimes, minor diseases and disorders make the parents utmost worried. cradle cap is one condition, which makes the parents quite worried about the child’s health. You may be witnessing scaly, greasy oily patches on the head of your baby. It is just a neonatal disease and you need not be that much worried about the same. All it needs is gentle and thorough care. As it takes time to heal.

Cradle cap occurs mostly over the head of the child in patches. If your child is suffering from cradle cap, you need to take proper care. This disease is due to the improper metabolic functioning of your child. Once your child develops a healthy metabolism, the disease will itself disappear. For caring the affected area of your child, use mild baby shampoo. Rinse the area with normal temperature water and remove the crusty scales gently. During winters, follow it with luke warm water, as it will be very harsh for the child.

Use cotton swabs to mop the affected areas. Allow the areas to dry and wait till all the scales become dry. Use soft brush over the affected area to brush off the dry scales. After brushing the scales, apply oil, which can be mineral or vegetable and let the child’s head soak in. A repeated treatment will give the child a relief. There is no effective treatment for cradle cap other than care. You have to wait till your child becomes strong and get healed.

Cradle cap has to be treated like a skin disorder. A gentle and thorough care keeps the skin health of your child away from deterioration. Routine cleansing must be done with the use of products, which are soft on baby skin. Keep in touch with your medical practitioner for keeping your child healthy.

It is only when we look into the medical intricacies of the skin disorder that is known as cradle cap, or more appropriately seborrheic dermatitis that we get to know about the real deal. In fact, the very eruption of this disorder is quite a startling discovery as its victims are not determined by the factor of hygiene or health. This leads to the development of a crust on the baby’s scalp that actually has no potential contagious tinge, although it leads to itching in severe cases.

Although the symptoms of a cradle cap is somewhat similar to that of a normal case of dandruff, their degree ranges between a mild eruption of flaky scalp to a thick yellow crust that can spread to other areas like the face, neck, chest and so on. This skin ailment is in no form a contagious ailment and is even devoid of any side effects that might turn harmful in the long run. However, proper care and medication is necessary to ward off what comes along in the form of the unwanted physical developments.

The diagnosis of a cradle cap is conducted through a physical examination that can explain the intensity of the ailment and suggest remedies for the same. However, at times, further tests may also be called for when the ailment takes a more serious form. Normally, there is not much you can do about the treatment of this disorder as long as the baby is not troubled by the symptoms. However, a nice and relaxing shampoo can do the trick to ruffle up the flake, which can be easily brushed away after being dried up.
